Ruth’s expertise

Ruth provides education, encouragement and inspiration that supports people to make healthy nutrition and lifestyle choices for:

  • Metabolic syndrome

  • Malnutrition

  • Overweight and obesity

  • Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease

  • Bariatric surgery

  • Fussy eating in children (and adults)

  • Sports nutrition

Ruth has specific expertise in women’s health, fertility and pregnancy.

Her PhD focused on nutrition and weight during pregnancy. Her research added to her understanding of how health and wellbeing before and during pregnancy impacts the lives of mothers, children and grandchildren (nutrition for now and then).

Ruth explored this important area of health further with postdoctoral research in women’s health and wellbeing before pregnancy.

To date, she has published 37 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has presented her research in Australia and internationally. Her affiliation with Monash University continues.

She is a member of Dietitians Australia, Developmental Origins of Health and Disease ANZPac, and Victorian Institute of Teaching.
